AMGA’s Diabetes: Together 2 Goal® Campaign Celebrates National
        Observance
National Day of Action aims to motivate people across the country around
        improving diabetes care
ALEXANDRIA, VA – Today, AMGA’s Together 2 Goal® diabetes campaign, supported by AMGA Foundation, the association’s philanthropic arm, celebrates its annual National Day of Action in conjunction with American Diabetes Month this November.
Medical groups, health systems, nonprofit partners, corporate collaborators, and individuals across the country will take action today to ensure that people with diabetes get the best care possible. Planned activities include online events such as a provider webcast and a Facebook Live stream; distribution of patient and provider resources; a social media campaign; and more.
“We are activating the nation today in the fight against diabetes,” said Jerry Penso, M.D., M.B.A., president and chief executive officer, AMGA, and president of AMGA Foundation. “By taking small actions, we can all do our part to improve diabetes care in the United States.”
This is the Together 2 Goal® campaign’s second annual National Day of Action; last year, more than 200 individuals and organizations took action, reaching a collective four million Americans on one day. AMGA launched the National Day of Action concept during its first Chronic Care Challenge campaign, Measure Up/Pressure Down®, which educated millions of Americans about hypertension.
Together 2 Goal® is a national campaign aimed at improving management of Type 2 diabetes in the United States. Launched in 2016, this three-year initiative challenge leading healthcare organizations to work together to transform diabetes care for millions across the country.
To date, more than 150 AMGA members have implemented at least one of the “campaign planks”—11 evidence-based care processes—to improve the care of people with the condition by empowering patients, improving care delivery, and leveraging information technology. Campaign participants also report data on a quarterly basis and utilize the campaign’s resources and tools to achieve this goal.
